On Site Optimization is an important part of the overall process of website search engine optimization. Search Engine Optimization, better known as SEO, is the process of working to improve a websites position in a search engines search results. Ranking high in the major search engines is one of the most important challenges a webmaster is faced with. This is because the better a site does in terms of search engine search results the more visitors it will receive which online is what drives any sites profitability. So, just what is on site optimization? Basically on site optimization is simply optimizing those factors that you can control on your website. These factors include your keywords, meta tags, content and external links and several others. In on site optimization keyword selection is probably the most import. This is because keywords form the foundation of your website. The keywords you choose become the base around which you create the content that ultimately is your website. So when developing your website you must consider carefully and select the right keywords to use. There are many tools available online to help you with this process. These keyword tools are great for helping you to know which keywords are being searched for by internet users. Using a reliable keyword tool is probably the most efficient way to optimize your way to the top of the search engine rankings. Another important on site optimization element is the actual content that makes up your website. Sounds simple enough, right? Actually the content is not just another element, it is just as important as previously mentioned keyword. Your content is the part of your website that pulls prospective clients into your website in the first place. Fresh, constantly updated content is what brings new and repeat visitors to the pages of your website over and over. Day in and day out. If visitors recognize your site as highly informative they will most likely comeback to know more. Also, if your site presents relevant information more websites will acknowledge your sites presence by linking to your content. This linking will further enhance your search engine rankings. Which as was previously established is good thing because this is what at the end of the day drives the profitability of your website. Meta tags are another important on site optimization element. The World Wide Web Consortium requires a site to have meta title tag and meta description in a webpage. More importantly, some of the major search engines use meta tags in selecting the websites that are suitable for to be displayed in their search results. It is highly debated as to what search engines actually use in this area but I personally would never leave them out. External links, or the links that are imbedded in the content on your site are important parts of your on site optimization and should be considered. It's suggested that you place links that are related to your site within your content. Keeping in mind that your search engine rankings are partially determined based on the quality of the sites you link to. These are known as your external links. For this reason you must carefully consider which sites you choose to actively link to. These area a few factors involved in on site optimization. There are certainly others that you should learn about and implement into your overall website optimization process. |
